Maintenance is Key

mechanic

All most of us know how to do is get in our cars, adjust the seats, put gas in the tank, turn on the radio and drive our cars until they won't run any more.  Our cars need a little tender loving care too.  After all, if we take care of them, they will take care of us too.

The funny thing about car maintenance is that we don't know much about it.  Establishing a few regular habits can make all the difference to you and to your car.  If you aren't sure where to check the things listed below, please feel free to ask.  Try these few suggestions:

When filling your car, gather any trash that needs to be thrown away.  While the gas is pumping, take a visual inspection of your tires to see if any of them look low on air pressure.  Another thing to do while you fill up is wash your windshield- and don't forget to wash your your lights too.

When we were young, there were full service stations that would check our oil and other fluid levels while we filled up.  That doesn't happen much these days, but it is still very important to check regularly, and at the gas station is a good time to do it.

Have you ever read your car's instruction manual?  Most of us have not.  These little books make for interesting reading.  They tell us when scheduled maintenance should be done.  They can also save us a ton of money.  If we don't follow the recommended scheduled maintenance, we could be responsible for even warranted repairs.  You can also learn a lot about how your car works.

Trouble remembering when to change the oil in your car?  Plan to do it every three months, when  the seasons change:  March, June, September and December.  When you get the oil changed, also check the transmission and brake fluid levels.  Have the belts checked to see if they are worn or loose.  The coolant in the radiator and the windshield washer fluids should be checked at the time, as well.  Windshield wipers should be replaced once per year; just before winter works best.

We are happy to provide this full service inspection on your visits to Perfection Automotive.  Call to schedule your service today!

Proper tire pressure can help you get better gas mileage and keep your car from pulling to one side or another.  Running on correct tire pressure helps your tires to wear evenly.  Every 5,000 miles it is good to rotate your tires and balance them to prevent uneven wear.  Your family's lives depend on having good tires on your car.  Replace them when the tread is getting worn out.

Your Advertising Dollars at Work

Racing allows us a unique means of advertising:  in parts &/or labor exchange, we are able to work with local businesses to promote & advertise for each other, maximizing our advertising dollars.  We all benefit from getting our name out there, and this allows us to keep costs down while still enjoying our hobby and promoting our line of business.

What could be better for our Auto Repair shop, than to have our name on the top cars at the local race tracks?  Mike & Pam both have a long list of wins, and are well known for high quality repairs and excellent performance, just as reflected in our business every day.

Of course we get announced when racing, but we are also being seen all the way to the race- this is a lot of coverage for a weekend sport.  We hope every one of our customers comes out to see us at least once this season, and would love to hear back from you about your experience.

Want to come see us race?  We are able to get tickets at a discount if there is a group interest- email us to say which track is most convenient for you, and how many of you will be coming.  We will let you know whether we can get you tickets at a discounted price.

Mike's Modified Win at Banks, 2008

When we're not working on cars, we're playing with them!

Come see us in action!  Mike & Pam have both competed in the IMCA Modified Division.  After a nasty (roll over) accident, Pam's 2006 season was over.  Pam shared duties with Ray Cota, from Ray Cota Trucking, at River City Speedway in St Helens in a Sportsman car in the 2007 season- Pam in the Women's Division.

2008:  Mike traveled some this season- he won 6 times, in his Modified &/or Sportsman car at several of the tracks mentioned on the right, above- link to any of them for full schedules.

Pam elected to Team Drive for Larry Wetzel in the #38 sportsman for the 2008 season.  We finished 3rd in the points standings at River City Speedway in St Helens.

Come see us in action next season, at Sunset Speedway in Banks, Oregon.

It's the most fun you've had in the dirt since you were a kid!
